Its 5-flute geometry combined with a 45° helix angle and TiAlN Futura coating ensures smooth cutting action that reduces vibration and enhances surface finish when machining steel and related materials. This size and flute count are ideal for light radial stock removal during finishing of low carbon steels like 1018 and A36. The TiAlN Futura coating coupled with the steep helix angle and high flute count improves heat resistance and chip evacuation, contributing to extended tool life. The designs absence of a corner radius concentrates cutting forces on sharp edges, requiring controlled feed rates to avoid chipping, yet allowing precise detail work. This end mill should not be used with non-ferrous materials because the coating is poorly matched, potentially causing rapid wear. It is also less suitable for heavy roughing or interrupted cuts, where a corner radius or alternative geometry would better resist chipping.
